Counselling

Our approach holds your aspirations and immediate needs in mind.

We explore topics or strategies important to you within each session. Sessions end with a summary of experiences shared, and where useful, by mapping or beginning some practical strategies together.

We can support you as an individual, as a couple, as parent and child, or whole family groups. Whoever is important to you can be a part of each conversation. We also provide counselling for all ages and stages of life, though primarily assist those over 15 years of age.

In addition to counselling, we can provide practical assistance through training and psycho-education around your personal experience, effective communication strategies, identifying and preventing patterns of conflict, and developing strategies for self-care. Conflict or ways of coping to manage frustration or distress can escalate quickly at times. We develop strategies with you based on your experience of what could work for you. Our goal is calm, safety, and personal and whole-family well-being.

We have found that longer blocks of time allow a full exploration of everyone’s experiences and needs. This allows greater depth of support based on your circumstances. We tend to allow 1.5-2 hours for therapy sessions, and hold these on a 2-4 week rotation depending on support need, risk, and resources available.

Accessibility and diverse communication needs

We can provide support in a range of therapeutic settings, within clinical or community care environments.

We adapt our approach for varied communication needs and abilities, for example therapy and support via email, or working with non-verbal or situationally non-verbal clients.
